I began Daf Yomi (Koren translation) in August of 2012 with the help of an online group that is now defunct. This blog is intended to help me structure and focus my thoughts as I grapple with the text. I am happy to connect with others who are interested in the social and halachic implications of our oral tradition. Respectful input is welcome.

Berachot 64: Learning for the Love of it
The final daf of our first massechet of Talmud focuses on a discussion of Torah study itself. Who should study and when; the powerful intellectual and emotional arguments at the core of this practice. We are to study Torah and to love that practice. We do not need a reason to practice; we just do it. Torah scholars are especially blessed by loving the learning of Torah for its own sake.
